Translating a Model for People Who Will Never Read the Code

Translating a Model for People Who Will Never Read the Code

Teaching statistics in a STEM lab taught me more about communication than any writing course. Students do not need the derivation. They need the intuition plus a reason to trust it.

The same applies in business settings. Lead with the decision the number supports, then the size of the effect, then the uncertainty. Method details belong in an appendix, not a headline.

Uncertainty is not a weakness to bury. A prediction interval communicated well builds more credibility than a point estimate delivered with false confidence.

If the audience can restate your conclusion and its limits back to you, the work is finished. If they cannot, the model is still sitting on your machine.
