Automate the Report, Not the Judgment

Automate the Report, Not the Judgment

Every recurring report has two parts: assembly and interpretation. Assembly is mechanical, deterministic and a poor use of an analyst. Interpretation is where the value is.

A good pipeline pulls, validates, transforms and renders on a schedule, then fails loudly when an input shifts shape. Silent success on bad data is worse than a broken job.

Once assembly is automated, the analyst spends their time on the part that is actually hard: deciding what the movement means and what should change because of it.

The measure of a reporting system is not how pretty the output is. It is how quickly a wrong number gets caught.
